About
The people behind the guide.
Guide to Hana is written and driven by people who actually live here.
Guide to Hana is the definitive planning resource for driving the Road to Hana on Maui — every stop, mile by mile, from people who actually live here.
It’s written by Shane Perry — Maui resident, marketer, and the person shooting the route’s photos and video for these pages — and operated as a digital reach · maui project. One editorial rule governs everything here: real places, checked facts. Fees, closures, and reservation rules get verified before they’re published and re-checked on a schedule, and when something closes — a trail, a cave, a swimming hole — we say so plainly instead of recycling last year’s brochure.
Why? Because this road runs through people’s front yards. A guide that gets the etiquette right is the only kind worth ranking. Questions, corrections, or a stand we should know about: say aloha.
